The Talisker Road
Whenever we're on Skye we always deviate to Talisker. It is 9 miles off the main road to Northern Skye but well worth the jaunt. Not only is this the only true distillery on the island it is a magnificent malt. I've written about the distillery tour itself which you can read about here.
And most it applies today. I always stress the point of booking particularly as Talisker is the only distillery it is very busy. For instance a small group were disappointed to be told the only availability for yesterday was on the 4pm tour. It was midday and they'd spent several hours travelling to reach Talisker. So I cannot stress it enough - book ahead!
Renovations seem to be underway at the distillery as the shop itself was closed and moved into the main waiting area. An unsettled fitting, given how busy this place is but the staff were making the most of it. A shame really, as the Talisker shop was well laid out when we last visited. So this is Talisker country... (yes you'll note there is a slight drought and the water supply is running very low)
